Ascend.NET®, Southtech’s flagship microfinance
software product has recently been reviewed by an independent software
evaluator working on behalf of the Consultative Group for the Alleviation
of the Poorest (CGAP), a group in which the World Bank is an active participant.
The software product has been placed amongst the Best Information Systems
in the MFI space. It scored 3 stars out of a maximum of 4 stars from CGAP’s
evaluator and 4 stars out of a maximum of 4 stars from Southtech’s
customers. In the next release of Ascend.NET®, Southtech plans to
offer context-sensitive help functions and a much enhanced user manual.
With costs of just 0.066 US cents (yes, less than 7/100 cents!) per transaction
experienced by local MFI’s, the return on investment from Southtech
Ascend .NET® is exceptionally high. Furthermore, it interfaces with
Southtech Ascend Banking®, Southtech’s retail and commercial
banking solution, making it very attractive for MFI’s wishing to
move into full-fledged banking and for banks wishing to move into the
